Delete your account in the app
Open Scanguin, tap the gear at the top of Home to open Settings, then tap Delete Account and Reset Data (the same screen is under Settings › Account › Delete Account). Read what will be deleted, then confirm.
The account is deleted as soon as you confirm: there is no waiting period and nothing to undo. The same step clears Scanguin on that device, so keep copies of the documents you need first (share them as PDF). If something goes wrong on the way, the app tells you and changes nothing on your device, and you can try again.
Ask us to delete it by e-mail
You don’t need the app. Write to support@scanguin.app or privacy@scanguin.app from the e-mail address of the account (the one you signed in with) and say you want the account deleted. If you can’t write from that address, tell us which address the account uses and we will ask you to confirm that it is yours before we do anything.
We delete the account the same way the app does and confirm by e-mail. A person handles these requests: we answer as quickly as we can, and within the time that applicable privacy law allows.
This removes the account on our server. Scanguin on your device is separate: the documents stay on the device until you delete them (Settings › Reset Data, or remove the app).
What is deleted
When the account is deleted, we erase from our server:
- Your sign-in: your e-mail address is removed from your Scanguin account record, and your sign-in is deleted from our authentication provider (Google Firebase Authentication). If you used Sign in with Apple, the iPhone and iPad app also disconnects Scanguin from your Apple ID when it deletes the account. The Android app can’t do that, and neither can we when we delete the account for you by e-mail: then Scanguin stays in your Apple ID’s Sign in with Apple list until you remove it yourself (on an iPhone or iPad: Settings › your name › Sign in with Apple).
- Your purchase records: the subscription records linked to your account, including the store data we kept to check them (such as an App Store transaction record).
- Your notification registrations: the device tokens we use to send you notifications, and the record of Pip’s welcome notification.
- Any complimentary Scanguin Pro access granted to the account.
In the app, the same step also deletes everything Scanguin holds on that device: documents, scans, signatures, reminders, settings and Pip’s progress. Your documents stay on your device: Scanguin doesn’t upload them to our servers, so we have no copy to delete, or to restore for you.
What we keep
Some things outlive the account, and we say which:
- An internal account number with dates such as when the account was created and deleted. It carries no name, e-mail address or sign-in, and it names no one.
- Information we are required or allowed to keep for a limited period by law, for example billing and tax records, fraud prevention, security and disputes, as the Terms of Use explain (Closing Your Account). Technical logs and support correspondence are kept for the periods in section 4 of the Privacy Policy.
- Records held by Apple or Google about purchases you made with them. They are theirs, not ours: ask them to delete or export those.
The Privacy Policy (scanguin.app/legal/privacy-policy) describes your rights over your personal data, including access, correction and erasure. Write to privacy@scanguin.app to use them.
Your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: the store that bills you does that, so cancel there. On Android, open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions › Scanguin Pro (support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7018481). On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions › Scanguin Pro.
Until you cancel, the store keeps charging you for the period you subscribed to, whether or not the Scanguin account still exists.
If you never created an account
An account is optional and every feature works without one. If you never made one, we hold no account data about you: your documents are only on your device. Delete them in Settings › Reset Data, or by removing the app.
Legal
The Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the Subscription Policy explain the rest. Other questions: Support.
